Just Can't Wake Up (from this American Dream) copyleft 2005/10 Jesse Blevins Don't want to hear about it, just makes me sad. Nothin' I can do about it, just makes me mad. The weather's hotter and that's a shame, Don't try to tell me that I'm to blame. Drive my SUV to the Wall-Mart store, Don't see the sweatshops. I don't see the wars. Free parking, prices are low But I'm stuck on the freeway, so I can't go. What's gone wrong? It makes me want to scream! Just can't wake up from this American Dream, The rich get richer, but that's OK 'Cause maybe I'll be rich someday. I'll have a mansion that's climate controlled. Won't see the mountaintops removed for the coal. Won't see the tailings that get dumped in the streams. I'll watch "Mad Men" on my big wide screen. This is the land of opportunity. Just never seems to apply to me. What's gone wrong? It makes me want to scream! Just can't wake up from this American Dream, There's no place greater than the USA. That's 'cause we're livin' the American Way. Don't understand those crazy people overseas. Just breeding terrorism like a disease. They don't understand democracy. Even when we do our best to set them free. They don't appreciate it when we attack. They just keep fighting like they want their country back. What's gone wrong? It makes me want to scream! Just can't wake up from this American Dream,
